“Best Friend for Adoption” is the centerpiece of my upcoming collection The Lab—a series focused on Labrador retrievers and the love shared between a pup and their person.

The drawing depicts a pup curled on the floor of the animal shelter, a best friend up for grabs! There’s no fluff here (see what I did there?)—just a dog waiting, and the reminder that their whole world often depends on us to do right by them.

This piece is my way of making a statement: dogs are not accessories to our lives, they are friends who love deeply, trust completely, and deserve care. We shape their lives, just as much as they shape ours.

My hope is that this drawing makes you pause, and maybe even go hug you dog or give one a home.
